Haryana to launch scheme to curb power theft in state

With a view to curbing power theft in the state, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday announced that ‘Mahra Gaon, Jagmag Gaon’ scheme would be implemented in those villages where line losses were not more than 20% and consumers were paying electricity bills regularly.

“Such villages will be given power supply for 16 hours a day, which will be further extended to 18 hours and 24 hours in a phased manner,” said Khattar while addressing a well-attended ‘Vikas Rally’ at the grain market at Nangal Chaudhary on Thursday.

He also announced opening of a degree college in Nizampur and introduction of science stream the government to make regular appointments for which the state government had made arrangements, but the process would take a year. He said that the government is considering to provide relaxation in age to guest teachers, taking their experience into consideration.
