The special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder case of Sukhmanpreet SinghTalwandi, alias Sippy Sidhu, 36, who was shot dead on September 20 in a Sector-27 park, questioned Kalyani, the daughter of a sitting Punjab and Haryana high court judge, on Saturday. Kalyani, who was a close friend of the victim, was questioned for about three hours at the Police Lines in Sector 26.
The police till now have questioned as many as 60 friends of Sippy. The police said Kalyani was called to join investigations as many questions were still unanswered. Kalyani came to the Police Lines at about 2pm, where she stayed till 5 pm.
Earlier, the victim’s brother Jippy Sidhu had claimed that Kalyani was close to Sippy and wanted to get married to him.
The women friends of the victim came under the police scanner after some residents near the crime spot had seen a woman fleeing away in a car minutes after Sippy was shot dead in the park.
Chandigarh SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill confirmed the questioning of Kalyani. The police said Kalyani could be asked to join investigations again if need arose.
