Rapping the Punjab government for its failure to initiate measures to procure crops on the minimum support prices (MSP), the Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday asked it to copy other states if it was not able to devise its policy.

The HC bench of justice SS Saron and justice Darshan Singh expressed its surprise as to how Punjab was not able to find out a solution. Copy Haryana, if are unable to find any other solution, the bench observed orally.

The HC was hearing of a petition filed by one Gurnam Singh who had sought that Punjab government be directed to procure maize and other crops on MSP as announced by the Centre.

The court was informed by Haryana that it was ready to procure crops such as sunflower, maize and pulses on MSP and the Centre too had been informed about it. The requisite details as sought before the onset of season too had been given to the Centre, Haryana told the HC.
