Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Ravinder Singh Ravi and Bikram Thakur on Friday raised the issue of poor health care facilities in Dehra sub-division of the Kangra district.

Moving a calling attention motion under rule 62, Ravi said the health care facilities in Dehra have not been improved since Independence.

“Dehra civil hospital and health institutions, which include Dehra and Jaswan Pragpur assembly segments, are facing acute shortage of medical staff and other facilities,” he added.

He said against the sanctioned posts of nine doctors, there were only two.

Thakur pointed out that many of the doctors who were originally posted at Dehra have been shifted to Nagrota Bagwan on deputation.

In his reply, health and family affairs minister, Kaul Singh Thakur assured that the government was putting in every effort to improve the health care facilities in rural areas of the state.

“As far as shortage of specialists is concerned, it is problem faced by the entire state,” he said.
