The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday fixed the next date of hearing in the municipal solid waste treatment plant case on November 25.

The municipal corporation of Bathinda (MCB) and the local bodies department again failed to submit a report on the selection of the site on the Bathinda-Mansa road over the other two sites in Jeevan Singh Wala village and Jodhpur Romana village.

Guriqbal Singh Chahal, counsel for petitioner Captain (retired) Mal Singh and others, said that the MCB and the department have been directed to present a report in this regard in the next hearing.

Secretary of the department GM Balamurgan, commissioner, MCB, Dalwinderjit Singh, complainant in the case, Captain (retd) Mal Singh and advocate Guriqbal Singh Chahal were among the others who were present during Monday's hearing at the NGT.

Captain (retired) Mal Singh and residents of Bhai Mati Dass Nagar had filed a petition in the NGT in 2012 requesting for not allowing the MCB to construct the solid waste treatment plant at the proposed site on the Mansa road. The residents had opposed the plant that will collect garbage of 18 local bodies under the Bathinda cluster.
