Heat claims two lives in Amritsar

Intense heat has claimed lives of two unidentified persons in different areas of the city.Police said the bodies of the deceased, who seemed to be mendicants, were found in Katra Karam Singh and Majitha Road bypass area on Thursday. Both of them seemed to have died due to intense heat, they added.

ASI Harbans Singh of Sultanwind police station and ASI Prem Lal of Majitha Road Bypass police station, who are investigating into the two cases, said that efforts are being made to identify the deceased.

Meanwhile, the city on Friday recorded a maximum temperature of 42.0 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19.6 degrees.
