Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India, and National Association for the Blind celebrated 134th birth anniversary of Helen Keller in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Keller overcame her visual and hearing impairment to become an accomplished author, political activist and a lecturer. Her birthday is commemorated as Helen Keller Day.
Rajesh Jogpal, director, social welfare, Chandigarh administration, and managing director of Chandigarh child and women development corporation graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The celebration commenced with a welcome song by the visually-challenged students followed by felicitation of students and school teachers from the Modern School, Chandigarh. The talented students from NAB gave an inspiring musical performance playing varied musical instruments. The sumptuous lunch served on the occasion was prepared by the visually-challenged students in the catering course of Asha Kiran Institute.
