Heroin worth Rs 3 crore recovered, three held

The city police on Saturday claimed to have recovered 500 grams of heroin, worth Rs 3 crore in the international market, in two separate cases.

Acting on a tip off, CIA staff of the city police intercepted two persons identified as Joga Singh and Amarjit Singh on Garha road.

When searched, 250 gram of contraband was recovered from the duo, informed additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP), crime, Naresh Sharma.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to get narcotics from one of their accomplice, Sonu, a resident of Kapurthala.

The ADCP said Sonu was also booked under NDPS Act and the police was trying to nab him.

In another incident, said the ADCP, Surjeet Singh from Jagral village was arrested with 250 gram of heroin.

The cost of the recovered contraband is about Rs 3 crore in the international market.

Sharma said the police were trying to trace the supply route.

A case under sections 21, 61,85 of NDPS Act has been registered against all the arrested accused.
