After the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan chose to be brand ambassadors for Gujarat and Kolkata respectively, it seems like national award winning actor Kangana Ranaut will be doing same for her home state, as Himachal Pradesh state tourism department has approached her for the same.

“Kangana Ranuat is a daughter of Himachal. We will approach her shortly to become the brand ambassador for the promotion of tourism in the state. Ranuat hails from Bhambla village that borders Hamirpur and Mandi district,” said Himachal Pradesh tourism development board vice chairman, Vijay Singh Mankotia.

The board had earlier approached playback singer Mohit Chauhan, who hails from Nahan – the district headquarter of Sirmour district. During the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime the department had approached Himachal-born beauty Preity Zinta to become the brand ambassador. Zinta had her initial education in the Shimla and hails from Seo village in Jubbal tehsil of Shimla district. She had initially agreed to the offer, but later the move did not materialise. The government then planned to rope in Kangna Ranuat, who had expressed her willingness to take the offer,” added Mankotia.

Besides this, the government also plans to the set up the film center close to Shimla. Mankotia said, “Himachal has more natural assets as compared to Kashmir. The state has no security issue unlike Jammu and Kashmir There is a lot of potential in Himachal Pradesh tourism,” he said.
