The Hisar police on Friday said that they were fully prepared to tackle the followers of self-styled godman Rampal who would be produced in a city court for hearing on Saturday.
Over the past several months, Rampal's followers have been coming in large numbers during his court hearings to show their solidarity with their guru. On such occasions, chaos prevailed on the city roads, affecting the law and order situation in the area.
"This time we have deployed more than 300 people in and around the areas where we suspect his followers would come. Besides, we have also put the city and sadar police stations on the alert to make sure that no unlawful gathering is allowed to happen," Hisar superintendent of police Satinder Kumar said.
He said that some of Rampal's supporters were trying to mobilise the crowd to show that he still had people behind him.
"Through these crowd gatherings, they are trying to send a message that Rampal still has some fan following. However, ever since we broke their network, their numbers are drastically dwindling," the SP said.
The SP assured that tight security would be in place in and around the court premises.
"Our men would be there for sure in good numbers. Everyone needs to understand that we have section 144 in force in and around the court premises. Accordingly, if five or more people would gather there we would arrest them for breaching the law. No one breaking the law would be spared," the SP said.
