The Amritsar Police heightened vigil and scanned the entire Amritsar Railway Station on Wednesday night after it got a phone call from an unidentified person who threatened to blow up the station with a bomb.
Police along with the force of railway police launched a comprehensive search operation. Suspicious persons were frisked, luggage was checked and even the tracks were seen but the police did not find anything.
Taking no chances, a search operation was launched at the railway station and checking was done in detail. On Thursday too, the cops heightened the security at the railway station and are keeping an eye on suspicious elements.
Confirming the incident, Civil Lines Police Station station house officer (SHO) inspector Rajwant Singh said, “We have registered a case against the unidentified caller. We have a phone number and are trying to track and identify the caller. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up both in and around the station.”
The case has been registered against the caller under Section 160/506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), he said.
Notably, a couple of days ago also, a similar threat came regarding the railway station and a thorough checking was carried out even then but proved futile.
