A large number of political and religious personalities besides his followers paid homage to religious leader Ajit Singh Hansaliwale on his bhog ceremony at Diwan Todar Mal Hall here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said the real tribute to the leader would be to shun social evils and carve out a harmonious society rising above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion.
The chief minister lauded Hansaliwale's contribution in further propagating the free community kitchen initiated by the gurus by describing him as a philanthropist who liberally donated for social cause and organised langars to provide people succour in times of calamities.
The chief minister offered all support to Baba Paramjit Singh, who has been chosen as Hansaliwale's successor for accomplishing the ongoing projects for the welfare of mankind.
Those present on the occasion included Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, minister Surjit Singh Rakhra, SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar, MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Patiala MLA Preneet Kaur.
