A home guard has been arrested for drug peddling. Subhash Chander of Bahadurke village was arrested on Wednesday by the Salem Tabri police from vegetable market chowk for possessing 10gm charas, 10gm opium and 42gm ganja.

The arrest was made on the basis of leads provided by Rakesh Kumar, who was arrested on September 17 for drug peddling, to the police. Salem Tabri SHO inspector Balwinder Singh said Subhash was posted at the city railway station. The accused confessed that he used to pinch drugs found abandoned in trains and sell it among peddlers and addicts.

The SHO said more revelations were expected from the accused during questioning.
