In a case of honour killing, a man hacked his minor daughter to death at a village under Abohar sub-division of Fazilka district on Sunday evening and threw the body in a field, which was recovered late Monday evening.

Jadhram, a native of Ramkaran village in Itta district of Uttar Pradesh was working in a brick kiln at Ghallu village in Abohar.

His daughter Baby (15) allegedly developed relations with a tractor driver who was working in the same kiln. The duo reportedly wished to get married, but Jadhram had strong objections to their affair and had stopped his daughter from meeting the boy but she did not heed to him, reports said.

Infuriated over her stubbornness, Jadhram allegedly assaulted her with an axe and threw the body in the fields on Sunday.

On Monday, when a neighbour asked Jadhram about his daughter, he did not give a proper reply. Later, some labourers found the body in nearby fields and informed police.

Abohar superintendent of police Kuldeep Chahal and a police party reached the spot and took Jadhram into custody on suspicion.

During initial interrogation, Jadhram reportedly confessed to have killed his daughter following her affair with the tractor driver.

Fazilka SSP Ashok Bath said a case had been registered against the accused while further probe in the matter was on.
