Deputy commissioner-cum-district returning officer Tanu Kashyap and assistant returning officers visited the counting centres at Rayat Bahra Education City on Chandigarh road and Government JR Polytechnic College to review the arrangements.
Kashyap said specific instructions had been given to the returning officers to ensure video recording of the opening of strong rooms before the counting process begins at 8 am on Friday. She said tight security would be in place and only those with identity cards would be allowed to enter the counting centres. No one would be allowed with mobile phone inside the counting halls, she informed.
Counting for Hoshiarpur, Chabbewal, Sham Churasi, Urmur, Dasuya and Mukerian would be done at Rayat Bahra and that of Phagwara, Bhulath and Sri Hargobindper assembly segments at Government JR Polytechnic College, she informed.
Postal ballots would be counted at the polytechnic institute, she further said. Three media centres had been set up and adequate seating arrangements had been made for counting agents, she added. She appealed to all political parties to maintain discipline.
