Gaganjot Kaur, a student of SAV Jain Day Boarding School, Hoshiarpur, could not believe her ears when she was informed that she had secured third position in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class-10 examination in the state.
"I did not study at all," she said giggling, when asked how much time she devoted to her studies. "Now I realise that had I put in more effort, I might have bagged number one ranking." She got 96.92% marks.
Her teachers and school principal Sushma Bali said she is a quick learner. "She used to top in all school tests besides taking active part in extracurricular activities," the principal said.
Gaganjot wants to be a lecturer in mathematics, her favourite subject. She has enrolled herself in Class 11 at Government Senior Secondary School, Railway Mandi, here.
Daughter of an arts and crafts teacher, Gaganjot is good at drawing and painting as well. She dedicates her success to her parents and teachers.
She never took coaching classes and studied whenever she felt like, Gaganjot said.
"But I never missed my classes and did not hesitate asking questions from my teachers. One should understand the topic and not cram," she shares her mantra.
