A former state-level cricketer, Sahil Thakur, 26, who worked as a 'bouncer' (security staff) at local discotheques, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his rented room in Sector 22 here on Tuesday morning.
Sources in the police said traces of the contraband 'smack' were found near the body and he could have died of drug overdose, though the exact reason would be ascertained only after the viscera report.
A woman used to stay with him in the room which he had rented around seven years ago, said neighbours. Sources said the girl had left for a wedding on Sunday and had not returned since. His parents, however, did not suspect any foul play and were handed over the body after post-mortem examination.
Viscara samples were taken by experts from the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory who would file a report.
