HP police sports and duty meet begins in Dharamsala

The 47th Himachal Pradesh police sports and duty meet began at Police Ground in Dharamsala on Tuesday. Director general of police (DGP), Himachal Pradesh, Sanjay Kumar, who was present as the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the games.

The 47th Himachal Pradesh police sports and duty meet began at Police Ground in Dharamsala on Tuesday. Director general of police (DGP), Himachal Pradesh, Sanjay Kumar, who was present as the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the games.

As many as 400 athletes from four zones will be participating in six games, including volleyball, handball, athletics and basketball during the three day meet. Kumar in his inaugural address elaborated about the importance of sports in one's life.

“Sports, not only make a person physically fit, but also help inculcating spirit of competition, practice, self- confidence and team spirit,” said Kumar.

He said a part of these games was directly connected to the duties performed by the police personnel.

The chief guest also honoured 42 police officers and personnel with DGP disk award for their outstanding contribution during the service.

The artists from District Public Relation Office, Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) and Government College Dharamsala presented a cultural programme on the occasion.
