Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday met chief minister Virbhadra Singh and urged him to reduce 50 percent sewerage cess on water bills which is charged by municipal corporation (MC) Shimla, to grant relief to the general public.
Sukhu said that MC Shimla was charging 50 percent cess on water bills as sewerage cess which was putting extra burden on general public and leading to resentment among the masses.
“Even all Congress MC councillors, both elected and nominated, had raised this issue in the House and met me few days back at PCC office at Rajiv Bhawan seeking early resolution on the issue,” he said, adding that he had assured them to take up the issue with the CM.
“Virbhadra assured me of early resolution of the issue and said that the government would take decision on it within 2-3 days,” he added.
Sukhu was accompanied by PCC vice president Harsh Mahajan, PCC media department chairman Naresh Chauhan, treasurer Surinder Chauhan, DCC Shimla (Urban) Pradeep Singh Bhujja, councillor Shashi Shekhar Chinu and all Congress MC councillors.
