In a bizarre case, a driver from Sonepat of Haryana was allegedly conned by two women, both cousins, after marrying him.

In a bizarre case, a driver from Sonepat of Haryana was allegedly conned by two women, both cousins, after marrying him.

In his complaint, Satyaban of Chadava village of Sonepat, Haryana, told the police that he married Pooja of Satguru Nagar of Daba on November 11 this year, after coming to know of her through his uncle and a middle woman. It was the second marriage for Pooja, who was divorced and had a child from her first marriage.

Satyaban said he had given Rs 20,000 in cash to Amarjeet Kaur, Pooja's mother and spent `1 lakh on the marriage.

“After two days of marriage, Pooja wished to meet her parents. So I dropped her in Ludhiana. A few days later she called him asking for Rs 40,000 for her father's treatment. On December 13, when I reached Ludhiana to bring Pooja back, she refused to continue any relation with me, with support of her family,” Satyaban alleged.

“When I contended, my in-laws asked me to forget Pooja and marry her cousin Khushpreet, to which I agreed. They again took Rs 30,000 from me. After our marriage, I took Khushpreet for shopping where she spent more than Rs 11,000 for buying clothes and cosmetics. Meanwhile, at the market, Khushpreet eloped with two motorcycle-borne men,” he alleged.

Satyaban further alleged that it was an organised gang that duped men on the pretext of marriage.

Inspector Jatinder Singh, station house officer (SHO), Daba police station, said the victim approached them on Tuesday.

Following his complaint, a case under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code against Amarjeet Kaur, Pooja, Khushpreet and middle women Krishna and Shinder Kaur. The police have launched a manhunt for their arrest.
