HT Impact | Illegal road built by Punjab minister Channi razed by UT engineering wing

A Municipal Corporation team had stopped the construction of the road besides confiscating the building material last week. But the minister’s men persisted and built the road at night, saying he would get permission from the CM.

The Chandigarh administration razed the illegal road built by Punjab minister Charanjit Singh Channi outside his official residence in Sector 2. The bulldozers swung into action on Wednesday afternoon.

The technical education minister had taken this step to ensure an east-facing entry to his official residence (House No 46, Sector 2) for an auspicious tenure. The road made of interlocking tiles was built by cutting into the green belt outside his house.
