World record in the bag, javelin star Neeraj Chopra among Top 30 Under 30

He sets records:Neeraj Chopra, 19, Panipat
This young lad has scripted history by setting the junior world record in javelin throw. He won a gold medal in the U-20 World Championship in Poland last year. He also holds the national record in the event and snagged a silver in the Asian Grand Prix held this April.
Secret sauce: Single-minded focus and hard work
Inspiration: “Over the years I have drawn inspiration from many but I am particularly indebted to my senior Jaivir, who used to train along with me when I started playing this sport in Panipat.”
Challenges facing India: “Access to quality education and healthcare are the two major challenges faced by India. I am also dismayed by the lack of sporting facilities in villages that are the nurseries of most of the sporting talent in India.”
Uplifting feature: “We have grown by leaps and bounds in the last few decades. With such a young and vibrant population, we can easily hope to become a superpower in the field of IT and technology.”
The road ahead: “I am eyeing a podium finish in both Asian and World Athletics Championships.”
As an agent of change: “Through my personal example, I want to tell the youngsters that nothing is impossible. All you need to do is to stay focused and not let any hurdles slow you down.”
