The special investigation team (SIT), formed by inspector general of police (Hisar Range) Anil Kumar Rao, on Monday arrested main accused Praveen Kumar in the answer-key leak of the Haryana Teachers’ Eligibility Test (HTET) level-3 examination.
The SIT arrested the accused from the outskirts of Hisar and started further investigations into the matter.
The level-3 examination of the HTET conducted on November 14 was cancelled due to leak of answer keys in Jind.
In a statement, IG Rao said, “The SIT nabbed Praveen Kumar, who is main accused in this case, following a tip-off. With his arrest, police have arrested 12 accused in this case so far.”
He said, “Praveen Kumar, a resident of Fatehapur village of Sonepat district, is a student of BA-1. He is doing his graduation from the open board. During investigations, we came to know that he met another accused Manjeet in Fatehapur. Manjeet requested Praveen to add his number in the WhatsApp group formed to circulate the leaked answer keys.”
Rao said, “Just a few hours before the examination, Praveen was included in the WhatsApp group titled ‘Chandni Chowk,’ from where he procured the answer-key of the HTET examination and later he contacted other persons and sold the answer keys for `2 lakh each. We will produce the accused before a local court and will demand his police remand to investigate the matter properly.”
