Several Huda sectors of Gurgaon are reeling under a water crisis, with Sectors 21, 22, 23 and DLF City phase-1 being worst hit.
In Sector 21, around 8,000 residents have been without water since a week. Col. Umed Singh, president, Sector 21 Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) said the problem has been chronic.
“During winters, the executive engineer had assured us that Huda will find a way out, but the problem has not been solved yet” he said.
According to residents, the executive engineer of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has been giving excuses for the indefinite water shortage.
In Sector 22, water supply to 650-odd houses had been cut off for the last four days.
In DLF City phase-1, residents complaine that the supply is intermittent. Yogesh Chopra, a resident of the area, said, “I did not go to work for two days as there was no water to bathe.”
Meanwhile, Huda administrator PC Meena attributed the shortage to erratic electricity supply.
“The inconsistent power supply has affected the water supply. However, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam has assured to maintain smooth supply,” he said.
