The Amritsar city police on Friday arrested a man identified as Sandeep Singh, a resident of Drumanwala Bazaar, on charges of attempting to kill his wife at her parents’ house.
The arrested accused and his mother Davinder Kaur have been booked under Sections 307 (Attempt to murder) 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (Punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 120-B (Punishment for criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
The case has been registered at Sultanwind police station on the complaint of Madhu Bala, wife of the accused and a resident of Sultanwind Road area. In the complaint, Madhu Bala has alleged that she married the accused five years ago, adding that nearly five months ago, the accused evicted her after beating her and she started living with her parents.
The complainant alleged that on October 14 at 4:50 pm, the accused came to her parent’s house and abused her, adding that he allegedly took her to the second floor of the house on the pretext of sharing something important with her and held her by her hair and threw her from the terrace, due to which she sustained severe injuries.
ASI Raminderpal Singh, who is investigating the matter, said the accused husband has been arrested. He added that efforts were being made to arrest the other accused in the case. “The matter is being investigated,” he said.
