The Kartarpur police have booked a man for attempting to rape his wife on Tuesday morning. The accused had been living away from his wife for the past five months and their divorce case is pending in court.

In a complaint to the police, the woman complained that her husband, who lives in Arya Nagar, forcibly entered her rented accommodation at committee market on Monday night and tried to rape her. When she started shouting, he managed to run away from the spot.

After recording her statement, the police registered a case against the woman's husband under Sections 376 (rape) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences). Later, the man was produced before local courts and granted bail.
