In the wake of 19,000 income-tax (I-T) department officials to be promoted this year across the nation, a meeting of Income Tax Employees’ Federation, North West Region, was held here on Friday.

It was discussed that Department of Promotion Committee (DPC) and the local administration would ensure that only deserving candidates get promoted.

“The issue of Annual General Transfer (AGT) of income-tax employees would be taken up with utmost seriousness if the administration does not cooperate or function in an appropriate manner,” said DS Narwal, general secretary of the federation.

Narwal added, “Any irregularity in transfer of employees would not be spared and the issue would be dealt with seriousness and addressed in a timely manner.”

Income-tax employees from the North West Region, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh and Haryana, were present at the occasion.

Prikshit Kumar Vasudeva, president, North West Region, along with other officials of the department, addressed the grievances of the employees, and assured to resolve them.
