Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has asked chief minister Virbhadra Singh to get a clean chit from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the charges of corruption if he was innocent.
Addressing a gathering at Didwin Tikker near here on Thursday night, the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Dhumal, said Virbhadra and other Congress leaders were misleading the people of the state regarding their property and other financial deals that were exposed by his party and the media.
He said instead of levelling charges against the Opposition, the chief minister should go to the CBI for a clearance into the allegations. Former education minister ID Dhiman was also present at the meeting.
Stating that the Congress has neither any policy nor programme, Dhumal said its leaders were busy criticising the BJP only to remain in news and to win the Lok Sabha elections due in April-May.
He said fearing complete rout in the upcoming elections, the Congress, especially Virbhadra, was busy sidetracking the actual issues and framing BJP leaders and activists in false cases.
Since none of the BJP leaders had committed any crime, he said, they did not bother about the Congress party leaders and ministers threatening them. The situation had come to such a pass that these people were forced to clarify their stand in the media, said Dhumal, but the people knew their past and the present.
He charged the chief minister with diluting the role of the Himachal Pradesh State Services Selection Board by shifting eight Class-3 posts from its preview and recruiting his own people by making various changes in the recruitment system.
He said the board was functioning well and had provided jobs to genuine persons on the Class-3 and Class-4 posts.
Dhumal appealed to the people not to fall prey to the evil designs of the Congress and to reject them as and when they approached them during the LS polls.
Congress leaders were misleading regarding their property and other financial deals that were exposed by the BJP and the media.
