IG takes new initiative to check crime in Bhatinda

Bhatinda zone inspector general of police Nirmal Singh Dhillon has taken initiative by constituting police public village level coordination unit to check crime against women, drug abuse, eve teasing and resolving all local issues at the police station level.

In this respect the first meeting, held at Talwandi Sabo and chaired by Dhillon, was proved very successful with good response by the people.

Stating this here on Saturday, the IGP said for this unit, an additional SHO has been appointed and made as nodal officer of the area under jurisdiction of that police station, while at the district level superintendent police detective has been made nodal officer.

Dhillon also stated under the scheme, the village unit also work for the implementation of the social welfare schemes both of the Centre as well as of the state government. The unit will be in direct contact with the nodal officer.

The IG also stated that so far in Bathinda district about 1,200 members have been enrolled as nodal officers and directed to submit monthly reports on the number of complaints received and their current status.
