The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has alleged that the construction firm undertaking work at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kamand north campus, nearly 15 km from Mandi, and the central public works department (CPWD) continue to hold back labourers' provident fund (PF) and salaries.

In a press release issued on Thursday after a meeting at Mandi, CITU district president Bhupender Singh said that if the company and the CPWD failed to deposit the PF and release salary soon, the CITU would organise a dharna outside the IIT Kamand director and CPWD offices on July 14.

He said even after the June 20 incident wherein security guards allegedly opened fire at labourers, the government, CPWD, IIT authorities and labour department had failed to implement labour laws.

He claimed that the construction firm's staff was missing from their office at Kamand since June 25 and labourers were worried over who would release their salaries and deposit PF.
