Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader advocate Paramjit Singh Pamma, who filed a petition in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against illegal mining in Rupnagar district, particularly in the Nangal area, alleged that he was facing threats from the mining mafia.

Addressing a press conference at Nangal on Tuesday, Pamma said his associate Ajay Sharma was threatened by some SUV-borne unidentified persons when he was returning from his village in Himachal Pradesh to Nangal on a motorcycle. “They also threatened to kill me,” alleged Pamma.

Pamma alleged that he was offered Rs 50 lakh to withdraw the petition filed in the NGT, which would hear the case on December 15.

Pamma said he submitted a complaint at the Nangal police, but police didn’t register the DDR. While Nangal SHO feigned ignorance, assistant sub-inspector Harbans Singh said they have received the complaint but the DDR was yet to be lodged.
