In 2013, Sangrur cops busted 25 gangs

In year 2013, the Sangrur police busted 25 gangs of robbers and other anti-social elements by arresting 127 people.

Showing annual report card of the district police, Sangrur SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said the police solved 46 cases during the year and arrested 827 people involved in drug trafficking. He said the district police also registered 779 cases under the NDPS Act and 78 proclaimed offenders were arrested with drugs.

Sidhu said besides recovering cars worth Rs 96.54 lakh, the police also recovered gold, silver and other valuables and fake currency amounting to Rs 2.52 lakh.

During this year, the SSP said, the district police registered 676 cases under the Excise Act and arrested 691 people.

He said for gambling activities, 260 cases were registered and 383 people were arrested with `7.14 lakh. The police registered 50 cases under the Arms Act and arrested 51 others. Sidhu said during 2013, the Sangrur police registered 3,963 cases, including 2,074 under the IPC.
