The computerisation of entire treasury offices in Punjab ensuring all government payments online has proved a grand success with Punjab becoming first successful state in the country to disburse more than Rs 7,281 crore to over 14 lakh beneficiaries in the first quarter by online system.
Disclosing this here on Friday, Amritsar deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal said crediting online payments was successfully running in the whole state. He said through this recently implemented system of online payments to various departments, authorities, besides salaries of government officials/employees, in Amritsar district have credited Rs 342 crore in a short span of three months.
Aggarwal said Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) has been monitoring the system of online payments since its inception on April 1 this year and Punjab has become country's first state to start this programme.
He said all government payments were being deposited directly in the bank accounts of departments and authorities concerned. He added that in Amritsar district, 1.1 lakh people were directly benefitted with this scheme.
