In Faridkot, woman dies after spurned stalker sets her afire in market
Baljit Kaur, 35, a resident of Bajigar Basti, in her dying statement to a judicial magistrate, said Babbu Singh, a resident of Kamiana Gate, used to stalk her. On Friday, the accused tried to block her way while she was in a market. When the woman objected to it, the man got infuriated and set her ablaze after pouring kerosene on her.
A woman died after she was allegedly set afire by her stalker on Friday night in Faridkot district.
Baljit Kaur, 35, a resident of Bajigar Basti, in her dying statement to a judicial magistrate, said Babbu Singh, a resident of Kamiana Gate, used to stalk her. On Friday, the accused tried to block her way while she was in a market. When the woman objected to it, the man got infuriated and set her ablaze after pouring kerosene on her.
The woman, who suffered critical burn injuries, was rushed to Guru Gobind Singh medical college and hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Farikdot police have booked Babbu Singh under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused is on the run and raids are being conducted to nab him, said police.
