The Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus that was stuck in Pakistan due to the ongoing clashes there finally arrived here on Monday afternoon.

The bus that had gone to Pakistan on Friday morning did not return on the scheduled day, Saturday. Following this, there was concern among the security agencies about the safety of bus passengers. The bus did not arrive even on Sunday. The authorities had a sigh of relief when the bus finally arrived.

The bus that was carrying four passengers after crossing the border went to the local bus stand.
Driver Amrik Singh told HT, "We were stopped by the authorities at Nankana Sahib without assigning any reason. But we did not face any problems there as we were confined to the shrine. Our families here were sounded."

Passenger Shabeg Singh said, "Due to the tense situation in parts of Pakistan, our bus was stopped there for two days. It was for our safety and was the right step. We stayed at the gurdwara till the situation improved."

Pakistan has been witnessing tension owing to clashes between the police and supporters of cleric Tahir-ul-Qadri. There had been tension in the Punjab region there, especially in Lahore.

The violent clashes have led to killing of six people and many others have been injured.
