Industrialists meet PPCB officials over renewal fee

A delegation of city-based industrialists on Tuesday met Punjab Pollution Control Board member secretary Babu Ram to discuss their opposition to the `5,000 fee for renewing the licences of small industrial units at areas demarcated for mixed land use.

The delegation, comprising members of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association, Ludhiana Effluent Treatment Society (LETS) and Ludhiana Electroplating Association, told Ram that the licence fee was too high.

The delegation also met Punjab principal secretary (labour) Vishawjeet Khanna. “The officials heard us patiently,” said a released issued by the three industry bodies.

Ram, the statement said, told the delegation that the chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board and he would visit Ludhiana on Wednesday. The statement said that Ram would meet local officials of the PPCB on Wednesday evening to discuss the issue.
