The new industrial policy was discussed in detail during the first meeting of the newly-elected executive committee of the Patiala Chamber of Industries on Friday. The committee finalised the names of the chapter chairpersons for Sirhind, Rajpura, Dirba, Nabha, Patran, Samana and Patiala.
Nakesh Jindal, a senior office-bearer of the chamber, said the executive committee has decided to seek a legal opinion on institutional tax.
The new concept of e-billing for some sectors for billing goods of even R50,000 was decried and the representatives have appealed to the government for reviewing the decision.
On the minimum wage notification of the state government linking the minimum wages of workers to the consumer price index (CPI) in the state, Jindal said the chamber has fixed a meeting with principal secretary Viswajeet Khanna (IAS) for July 23, wherein it would request the inclusion of industrial growth rate of the state in the CPI while considering the minimum wages.
He said the state's new industrial policy was discussed in detail and the House unanimously decided to meet the principal secretary (industries) to ask for a renewal of the same and include modernisation of old units at par with the new industry.
