The school of management studies at Punjabi University organised an industry-institute interface on Monday.
Head of department professor GS Batra emphasised the need for such functions as all stakeholders - institutions, industry, students, faculty and society -all stood to gain.
He said, "Industries gain by using the academia's knowledge base to improve cost, quality and competitive dimensions. Moreover, it also helps to earn placements through these interactions."
He added the academicians benefitted by having its expertise utilised for productive purposes, widening of curricula and perspectives of teachers and in turn producing quality students.
Presiding over the function, university vice-chancellor Jaspal Singh stressed on the need for developing soft skills among students.
He said the interface would provide an opportunity for students to learn the requirements of the dynamic corporate world. He underlined the need for change of management in different organisations.
