Indian National Lok Dal leader and member of Parliament from Hisar, Dushyant Chautala has said, "By passing a special ordinance on land acquisition, the Bharatiya Janata Party has again proved that it is following anti-farmer policies and providing financial benefits to the rich."
In a statement released here on Wednesday, Dushyant said, "Either the government should immediately withdraw this ordinance or be ready to face an agitation. The INLD and other like-minded parties would oppose this ordinance in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. We shall also call on the President to stall this ordinance in the interest of agriculture and agriculturists."
Earlier, the Congress had looted farmers in the name of SEZ (special economic zones) and now the BJP is also treading the same path to ruin farmers, he said.
"The small farmers would be hit hard by this ordinance and their existence is in danger. The farmers are already facing huge losses due to low prices of cotton and rice and the government has not come to their rescue. What to talk of measures to be taken for improving the lot of farmers, the government has entirely failed even to manage adequate urea for them," Dushyant said.
