Indian National Student Organisation (INSO) national president Digvijay Singh Chautala has served a deadline of 10 days to Maharashi Dayanand University (MDU) here to curb "rampant" eve teasing cases on its campus.

Digvijay, who is son of jailed Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) MLA Ajay Singh Chautala, led the activists of INSO, the student wing of INLD, who laid blockade at gate number 1 and 2. The INSO activists later handed over a memorandum to vice-chancellor HS Chahal.

Pradeep Deswal, an INSO leader, was allegedly manhandled by some youths reportedly after he challenged them while they were teasing some girl students.

Addressing the protesters, Digvijay said that chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had promised to permit student body elections in three months, but he has not taken any decision in this regard even after the lapse of nearly six months.
