Indian National Student Organisation (INSO) on Monday submitted a memorandum to Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, seeking removal of the Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) vice-chancellor and the registrar for alleged harassment of officials and teachers belonging to a particular caste in the university at the behest of Rohtak BJP MLA.

In the memorandum, the student body alleged that vice-chancellor Sudhir Rajpal and registrar SP Vats have been targeting people from a particular community.

It said MLA Manish Grover took the excuse of an unnamed letter and allegedly ordered the vice-chancellor to initiate unwarranted proceedings against the officials and teachers of a particular caste.

"After receiving the letter, the vice chancellor started immediate action against all the teachers and officials whose names were written in it. Some officials have been removed with immediate effect and some are being pressurised to resign," it said.

"It is important to note here that the letter which is being taken as an excuse for such conspiracy against a particular caste is without name or any other details of the complainant. It is completely wrong to initiate proceedings without verification against someone on the basis of unnamed letter. On the other hand, the MLA has no right or power to order the vice-chancellor for any action or work," the memorandum said.

The student body requested the governor to terminate the vice-chancellor and the registrar and also to take strict action against the BJP MLA.
