Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd today said inspection of electricity meters at Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh's New Moti Bagh Palace was a routine matter and it was under PSPCL's purview to undertake such exercises periodically.
Inspection was carried out without any instruction of Punjab chief minister or any other authority of Punjab government, a PSPCL spokesman said in statement here.
"The checking of electricity meters installed in the premises of Moti Bagh Palace Patiala was carried out in pursuance to the news item appeared in the news papers on June 23," he said.
The team had gone to the palace to verify the facts that whether the power meters were tampered with as had appeared in reports carried in a section of media.
The checking of meters installed in the Moti Bagh Palace has been carried out as per the procedure and the seals, wherever found missing, have been affixed afresh.
Meanwhile, a 14-member team of enforcement wing of PSPCL Monday again visited the palace and inspected every meter and load installed.
A palace spokesman claimed that power officials did not find anything objectionable and media reports in this regard were baseless.
