Shalini Gupta and Monica Sharma of Hindustan Times grabbed top honours in the women’s putting and nearest-to-pin competition respectively in the first inter-media golf challenge held at the Chandigarh Golf Range organised by Chandigarh Golf Association in association with Castle Sports and Chandigarh Press Club in Chandigarh, on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Geetu Vaid of The Tribune cornered glory in the women’s long drive event.
In the men’s section, Mukesh Kumar of Divya Himachal emerged victorious in the putting event while Vikrant Parmar of The Tribune came second.
In the nearest-to-pin event, Jaswant Singh Rana of Danik Tribune bagged top spot while KS Rana of Punjab Kesari finished runners-up. Kamleshwar Singh of The Indian Express won the title in the longest drive event while Ramesh Sharma of United News of India finished second.
As many as thirty journalists from various local media organisations competed in the three skill testing events -- putting, closest to pin and longest drive. CSR Reddy, president Chandigarh Golf Association, was the chief guest while Arjuna Awardee Harmeet Kahlon along with Col CGA secretary HS Baidwan were the guest of honour.
