Irregular water supply, potholed roads haunt Ambedkar Nagar residents

Ambedkar Nagar

The Ambedkar Nagar residents are hassled due to lack of basic facilities in the area for the last several years.

The residents are suffering due to irregular water supply, dilapidated parks and broken roads. The municipal corporation (MC) has failed to take appropriate steps to solve the problems of the area residents.

According to the people, the pipeline of tubewell is broken at one end for quite some time now due to which the pressure of the water is very low and the area has become a breeding ground for flies and mosquitoes.

The residents have to wait in long queues to fetch water from the tubewell installed in the park in the evening.

"The civic body is taking no interest in maintaining the park. The tubewell, which is installed in the park, is broken and water gets accumulated in the park, due to which children cannot play here,"said an area resident.

Some of the residents said that due to a few slaughter houses, foul smell emanates from the area.

The roads are in a pathetic condition for many years, due to which several accidents have occurred.

The residents of the slum said they have complained to the authorities concerned but it seems the MC has turned a blind eye towards their problems.

The slum dwellers have appealed to the authorities to take appropriate action to redress the problems.

Resident speak

The swings installed in the park in the area are broken for several years. Roads are also damaged due to which accidents take place. We have apprised the area residents of the problems but in vain.

Irregular water supply is the biggest problem for us. The pressure of water being supplied is very low so people have to gather at the tubewell in the evening to fetch water. Our problems should be redressed.

Mayor speak

Slum dwellers are not authorised to reside at that place but we are still in a process to find the appropriate place for them.

Harcharan Singh Gholwaria, Mayor

Official Speak

We are providing basic facilities to the slum dwellers but according to the law, they have no right to ask for any facility as they have encroached upon that land.
