Senior Congress leader Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa on Monday demanded that the SAD-BJP government issue a White Paper on the utilisation of central funds received by it under different welfare schemes and developmental projects.
Bajwa alleged that the government had "misused" the central funds meant for the poor and scheduled castes as well as failed to fully utilise developmental funds. He said that SAD-BJP government couldn't use grants worth over Rs 750 crore under Jawahar Lal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM) only because it didn't give the matching grant of 25%.
He claimed that most welfare schemes and developmental projects in Punjab were funded by central government. The state government couldn't name a single welfare scheme it had launched on its own.
The Congress leader also alleged that the Badal government had not paid money to beneficiaries of 'shagun' scheme and old-age and widow pensions for the last many months.
Bajwa accused the SAD-BJP regime of parking about Rs 3,500 crore in the accounts of state-run corporations and boards to escape audit of funds. The CAG report had claimed that Rs 1,600 crore was untraceable in the state government accounts, he claimed.
