Sent to bat in place of three-match winner Navjot Singh Sidhu, Arun Jaitley will take guard on Tuesday morning.
As Jaitley, selected as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate from Amritsar in place of its former-cricketer MP, makes his debut on this turf, the Akali-BJP leaders will play cheerleaders. They'll give him a grand welcome on arrival before he begins his innings by praying at Harmandar Sahib and Durgiana Mandir.
Later in the day, Jaitley will meet alliance workers. Since he replaces Sidhu, all eyes will be on the sitting MP to see if he accompanies his "guru in politics". "Jaitley will arrive on March 18. The party workers are eager to meet the leader," said district BJP president Naresh Sharma.
Jaitley will address party workers at the Khanna Samarak BJP office before various rounds of alliance meetings. Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia has told his Akali workers to work for Jaitley's victory whole-heartedly.
