Jalandhar: Daily wager hangs self from a ceiling fan

A daily wager, Vinod Kumar, alias, Sonu (24), was reportedly found hanging from a ceiling fan with his wrist slit in new vegetable market near Maqsudan on Wednesday morning.

The victim, who hailed from Jammu, was working with Aneja Vegetable Commission Agents for the past 10 years and living in a rented accommodation in the market.

The incident came to light when other workers went to his room around 6am to call him, but found Vinod’s body hanging from a fan.

As per police, at first, Sonu tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrist, but failed and hanged himself.

A police team headed by station house officer (SHO) Navdeep Singh and assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Jagdish Singh
rushed the spot and took the body to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police have also called family members of Kumar in Jammu for recording their statement. The reason behind the extreme step taken by Kumar is yet to be ascertained.
