Unidentified miscreants broke into an unguarded Canara Bank automated teller machine (ATM) in Behram village of Bhogpur in the wee hours of Friday. Robbers decamped with Rs 54,000 after breaking open the machine with gas cutters.

The incident came to light when bank officials and security guard opened the ATM kiosk on Friday morning and were shocked to see ATM lying open. Accused sprayed black paint onto the CCTV cameras in the kiosk to block view.

After getting the information about the robbery, the senior police officials rushed to the spot. A probe has been initiated.
