Chaudhary Santokh Singh, member of Parliament from Jalandhar inaugurated a science lab on the occasion of Teacher’s Day celebrations at Government High School Dakoha near Jalandhar city on Friday.

The lab was built and donated by the family of ex-sarpanch, Ajit Singh Bhatia.Speaking on the occasion, Singh said life was a constant learning process. “From the mother’s lap, who happens to be the first teacher, a child is shaped into great leaders, engineers, doctors, philosophers and scientists by their ‘Guru’, their teachers, in every phase of learning,” he said.

He emphasised that Teacher’s Day was meant to respect the contribution of the educators who shape societies and nurture young minds. The MP laid stress on discipline in student life, especially in the modern days, when it is hard to sustain in a competitive world.

He said he would be requesting the HRD ministry to speed up its efforts to ensure security to children in schools and quality and affordable education for all.
