In a move to strengthen patrolling on city roads and keep a strict vigil on anti-social elements, the city police on Friday flagged-off 30 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga cars for the officers.

These PCR vehicles are equipped with all essential equipment such as wireless sets, lights and first-aid box. The move will help the cops to reach the crime spot in minimal time. The PCR squad will now guard 30 sensitive city points 24X7 by installing permanent nakas in the city.

Later, a flag march was also held by PCR cars. Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) (traffic) Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu said that with the induction of these cars, the old fleet of 14 police gypsies will be phased out and GPS facility will be installed into these new cars.
